Menna Jones is a contemporary Welsh jewellery designer from Gower, near Swansea, who is one to watch on the Welsh craft scene. Her eye for design stems from witnessing a wide variety of artistic practices during her life, including the work of her mother, who is a successful professional artist.

She discovered her love for jewellery design through her study of silversmithing at Gower College, following which she enrolled at the prestigious School of Jewellery in Birmingham, and subsequently, completed her degree.

In 2017, she was awarded the exciting opportunity to design the medals for the International Association of Athletics Federation’s World Indoor Athletics Championships. Held at Arena Birmingham in 2018, Menna Jones certainly set an impression through her work, with her designs weaving together images of Birmingham city’s architectural heritage.

Having resided in Wales her whole life, Menna Jones has always been immersed in the beauty of the natural environment. She truly appreciates her surroundings, which serves as daily inspiration for her projects.

Her graduation pieces articulate her love for nature through design. Titled, ‘Athyrium Ghost’, the works have been exhibited at the ‘New Designers’ exhibition in London and were chosen to be displayed on the catwalk in Olympia, as a part of International Jewellery London in 2019.

At First of March, we believe this is just the beginning for Menna Jones!
