Cynefin is about the influences that shape us, the landscapes that hold our memories, and the communities that define us - rooting and grounding us to a certain time and place.
Drawing upon their own connection to the land and its traditions, our Makers create work imbued with their own character and unique personality, inspired by, but not prisoner to, traditional styles, identities and patterns. They make in response to this connection, but retain an independence of thought and creativity, carving their own signature and significance within our cultural story.
Holding precious memories crafted over time they combine the humanity of craftsmanship with the stories of people, community and land to create individual pieces and collections rich in heritage, humanity and narrative. Through their choice of materials and style, our Makers depict, echo and reflect the landscapes and cultural narratives of space - creating a body of work imbued with the colour, texture and form of the landscape - pieces borne of, and one with, the land. Elevating space by definition, drawing out the inherent and hidden, revealing layer by layer, the history and cultural notes which give meaning to space and time.
