Hiraeth - a definition

A soulful connection and yearning for a place that is home, a connection steeped in the stories of people, places and pride in a language and culture through which we are made complete.

Our Makers are natural storytellers in the language of craft -

The Spirit of Hiraeth

Crafted through time, Hiraeth transcends physical space to embrace a connection made in memories, myth and magic, captured in the stories passed down through generations, evolving and morphing with the passage of time. A sense of something lost yet found - profoundly human in its creation and telling. Ideas and concepts realised in beautiful objects that give life to something intuitively understood, but not yet physically expressed to create an evolving understanding of our cultural story and spirit.

The inspiration of Hiraeth

A collective history shared through the language of craft - intuitive storytellers giving voice to our humanity, creating a sense of identity and belonging in beautifully crafted pieces that echo the traditions and heritage of craft and the land of its creation - the colours, hues and tones held in our memory of Wales.

Custodians of Hiraeth

As custodians of Hiraeth our Makers bridge the past and the present, the real and imagined, valuing the rich heritage and legend embodied within its meaning - be that language, culture or landscape.

In work that speaks equally to the traditions of craft, our Makers capture and hold this heritage as a living lexicon of knowledge - acquired, informed and redefined over generations creating work that encapsulates every nuance and complexity of Hiraeth.
