David Pearl is a celebrated Glass Artist using traditional and contemporary techniques to create an international portfolio of work across four decades and now displayed as part of the permanent collection of the Canadian Clay and Glass Museum since 2023.
He has worked extensively in Canada, collaborating with landscape architect, Ian Gray to create many of the pieces showcased in his gallery.
The collaboration led him to design surface treatments for glass walls, balustrades, doors and a carport in Toronto. All the treatments were created to capture the effects of light refracting off ice caught in a series of photographs.
But a Welsh twist is often introduced in his work - sometimes incorporating text from Welsh poet, Neil Jenkins or creating work inspired by a series of photographs taken in Gower where his fascination with light and its relationship with water is captured and explored.
From public art to internal structural pieces designed to elevate and create interest within public and private interior spaces, David also creates contemporary glass furniture of which the table in his gallery is just one colourful example. This piece was selected for exhibition at British Glass Biennale, 2006 but was originally created for a solo exhibition at Material Matters, Toronto.
