Stephen Page creates distinctive bronze sculptures that distill the essence of animal form with striking clarity. Drawing on ancient art and contemporary minimalism, his work pares back surface detail to reveal an elemental, timeless strength - he describes it as “21st-century software running on a 10,000-year-old hard drive.”
Influenced by prehistoric artefacts and the purity of modernist abstraction, Page hones each sculpture to its essential lines and planes. His forms are smooth, stylised and still - imbued with a quiet sense of grace and permanence. Subtle curves and sweeping silhouettes replace narrative or gesture, resulting in iconic works that feel both mythic and contemporary.
Raised on the Dorset coast and now based in rural Mid Wales, Page studied Fine Art Sculpture at Southampton and works from his studio in the Tanat Valley. His bronze sculptures have a timeless quality, partly influenced by ancient art and artifacts as well as containing more contemporary references; exploring the connections between our ancient neurological wiring and modern life.
